Easter’s Flower-Filled Baskets

One of the most charming emblems of Easter is its baskets, which we here at Bagoy’s Florist & Home are just as inclined to fill with flowers and plants as candy. This custom comes to us from ancient times when farmers carted their spring seedlings in baskets to be blessed. Later still, the big Easter meal was brought in the same way for the same purpose. It’s only fair that the Easter Bunny would be hopping around with one, too.

What we love about a basket is that it suggests hope and abundance and connects us with some of the oldest spring rituals. An Easter basket is not only a lovely setting for our seasonal goodies, but it’s a practical way to transport the gifts we offer the ones we love. And a basket can be repurposed time and again, whether it is filled initially with flowers or used to collect eggs. A spring design looks particularly spectacular when it blossoms from a basket, as our Morning Meadow does.

The simplicity of the basket gives way to a profusion of bright, chipper blooms, including gerbera, larkspur, roses and mums. This is a riot of texture and color topped with a butterfly, a nod to the garden. Bring an Easter flower basket to your gathering this year, using it as a centerpiece or offering it to your host.
