Colleen Paige really loves pets. She is the founder of both National Dog Day and National Cat Day – but a decade ago, she organized National Puppy Day with a very different motive in mind. The day is set aside not only to celebrate the magic and love that puppies add to our lives – but to encourage people to adopt and rescue their furry friends, instead of buying them from puppy mills. The initiative has gained huge momentum around the globe, as people are encouraged to either adopt a puppy on March 23rd, or to donate to a local no-kill shelter. At Bagoy’s Florist & Home, we agree that our dogs can be our best friends. We’d like to take this opportunity to remember our shop helper, Sydney, who we lost about one year ago at the age of 16.
Syd loved her shop days and found the break room to be a priority before socializing. In her memory, we offer a 20% discount to anyone who calls to order a local bouquet that will comfort someone hurting over the loss of a pet.
If you are an animal lover, National Puppy Day is a great time to send a floral arrangement or green plant to honor those who work in the rescue industry – whether the volunteers or the paid staff, these special people work tirelessly to save, love, and rehome abused and abandoned pets. You may also wish to send one of our special “paw print” charm necklaces to thank them for their love of puppies.
Sydney made an indelible impression on our hearts, and we know that thousands of Anchorage friends and neighbors feel the same way about their furbabies. On March 23rd, call Bagoy’s Florist & Home to send a gift to celebrate the magical connection between people and their very special canine family members.
