Bagoy’s continues to evolve to meet the demand of its floral customers. After nearly a century of serving the Anchorage area and surrounding communities, we’ve decided to consolidate our two shops into one large floral and gift shop located on Homer Drive.
This is but one more chapter in the interesting story of Bagoy’s Florist. Founded by John and Marie Bagoy in 1922, they grew their flower shop from a backyard greenhouse to a busy, profitable business with in-demand products. During the 40s and 50s, John and Marie’s daughter, Mary, ran the flower shop with her husband who moved the successful business to a new location.
Unfortunately, in 1964, the Great Alaskan earthquake happened. This 9.2 magnitude earthquake, which lasted 4 minutes and 38 seconds, is to this day the most powerful earthquake recorded in North America, and the second most powerful ever recorded in world history. As a result of this devastating earthquake, Bagoy’s newly located shop was destroyed beyond repair. Realizing the need for plants and flowers was more important than ever, the Bagoy’s moved their products to a nearby garage to continue the business.
Several years later, Bagoy’s was taken over by Felix and Jennie Gay, who added a second location in the 70s then sold the business to Paul and Carol Humphrey in 1980. Now, their daughter, Chanda, and her husband Randy operate the business.
With changing shopping trends, the growth of online orders, and a desire for expedited delivery, Chanda and Randy astutely decided to merge the two locations so all of the creative muscle, designers, and products are under one roof.
Bagoy’s is blazing forward into the future by bringing new trends, more floral products, and stronger community outreach to the Anchorage area all backed by our dedication to creating a wellspring of plants and flowers while providing compassionate customer service.

If you used to visit our midtown shop, don’t worry! We still do same-day delivery to the same locations as that shop, including Province Hospital and all of your favorite Anchorage hotspots! In fact, we deliver to all area hospitals and the army base.
We’re open and delivering seven days a week, and professional floral designers are always on staff.
