Corsages for Mother’s Day & Prom

Memorable occasions are made even more special when you include flowers and long-standing traditions. During the spring, one such tradition is the wearing of corsages for proms, Mother's Day, or graduations. The word corsage is French in origin and was strictly translated as "the bodice of a dress". The flowers worn were called the "bouquet de corsage," and over time, the term was shortened to simply "corsage." In contemporary times, corsages are also worn on the wrist, held in place by beautiful wristlets or bracelets. Whichever your preference, you can be sure that Bagoy's Florist & Home will provide the perfect floral accompaniment to your attire. Read More about Corsages for Mother’s Day & Prom »

Celebrating with Spring Daisies

The classic white and yellow spring daisy is an iconic symbol of the promise of sunnier days - but the daisy is not as simple as it appears. It has a huge extended family, comes in a wide array of colors and even can be eaten for dinner! And in April, the daisy is showcased as the birth flower of the month - so read a bit about this amazing and versatile flower, then call Bagoy's Florist & Home, Spring daisies will brighten your home- and the homes of all your Anchorage friends and family. Did You Know? The daisy is a composite flower - meaning that is is actually made up of many flowers that exist together. Each of the smaller flowers is called a floret. Ray florets comprise the outer part of the flower, which people think are petals. Disk florets are located at the center of the flower; they are small and tubular.  Read More about Celebrating with Spring Daisies »

National Puppy Day – Remembering Sydney

Colleen Paige really loves pets. She is the founder of both National Dog Day and National Cat Day - but a decade ago, she organized National Puppy Day with a very different motive in mind. The day is set aside not only to celebrate the magic and love that puppies add to our lives - but to encourage people to adopt and rescue their furry friends, instead of buying them from puppy mills. The initiative has gained huge momentum around the globe, as people are encouraged to either adopt a puppy on March 23rd, or to donate to a local no-kill shelter. At Bagoy's Florist & Home, we agree that our dogs can be our best friends. We'd like to take this opportunity to remember our shop helper, Sydney, who we lost about one year ago at the age of 16. Meet Maria, Bagoy’s Floral Designer

In order to recognize the day in a special way, Bagoy's Florist & Home would like to introduce you to our very own Maria. As our Lead Floral Designer, she exudes the dedication to her craft and artistic talent which is indicative of the spirit behind Floral Design Day.
