National Puppy Day – Remembering Sydney

Colleen Paige really loves pets. She is the founder of both National Dog Day and National Cat Day - but a decade ago, she organized National Puppy Day with a very different motive in mind. The day is set aside not only to celebrate the magic and love that puppies add to our lives - but to encourage people to adopt and rescue their furry friends, instead of buying them from puppy mills. The initiative has gained huge momentum around the globe, as people are encouraged to either adopt a puppy on March 23rd, or to donate to a local no-kill shelter. The legendary educator was widely known as the father of floral design, and his legacy is seen and felt throughout the industry, even after 60 years.
